3/29 - Chaos Sealed $1k at Odyssey Games
4/01 - Weekly at Cardboard Games
Format: optional pre-siding, Bo1, 5 rounds, 31 (!) players; https://melee.gg/Tournament/View/282044
We both went 3-2.
YouTube interjection: I went back to top-down gameplay recording, because I noticed that my top-down JTL Boba Yellow videos from the 3/22 Case* Tournament performed much better than my POV JTL Boba Yellow videos from CBG’s 3/25 Weekly. Of course, I’m aware that there are differences, mostly that a case tournament’s games would be held in higher regard than a weekly’s and that the case tournament’s games were uploaded about 4 days earlier.
Going to further see how well these videos perform, because if these perform better than my last Weekly’s, then that tells me people may not like the POV format (I’m also assuming that the interest in JTL Boba Yellow >= Quinlan Tarkintown). Though I’m also going to start drip feeding my uploads for the algorithm, so that’s another variable for me to be aware of.
Deck - Quinlan Tarkintown
Not much of top end, hope to win via early game.
Matchups
Preface: At the moment, these are mostly unlisted videos. Scheduled videos are set to private due to how YouTube’s scheduled publishing feature works. I’m scheduling one unlisted video a day to be public.
Vs Vonreg Yellow 0-1
Their double Surprise Strike with Vonreg pilot’d Lurking TIE Phantom destroyed me, I should’ve pre-sided rip 💀. We played two more games afterwards.
Vs Obi-Wan Green 1-0
It was a very grindy matchup. I think they could’ve used their Obi-Wan’s heal 1 ability a lot more frequently without fearing losing the initiative.
Vs Piett Yellow 0-1
I basically had no answer to their The Invisible Hand.
Vs TWI Asajj Lake Country 1-0
I don’t think Lake Country benefited them that much, but I didn’t feel pressured in this matchup.
Vs JTL Thrawn Colossus 1-0
Definitely a bad matchup for my opponent due to their base with my discard cards.
Post-Weekly: Two Casual Games Matchups
Shoutout to the fellow CBG’r for staying after the weekly to play the extra games with me.
Quinlan Tarkintown (me) vs Fennec Tarkintown 1-0
Same deck list as above, base race, basically came down who had the last extra bit of damage.
Cad Tarkintown (me) vs Fennec Tarkintown 1-0
It’d be a totally different game if they had ambushed out their Ketsu Onyo on Turn 2, as I had no other Turn 2 play aside from Now There Are Two of Them.
Conclusion
We both performed pretty meh at the weekly, usually at least one of us goes 4-1. Also, super cool to see that there was a huge turnout for it, 31 players!
