12/13-12/19: We played at Cardboard Games, the last CBG SWU weekly in 2024.
Table of Contents
12/17 - Cardboard Games
Format: optional presiding, Bo1, 5 rounds, 23 players; https://melee.gg/Tournament/View/184304
We both went 3-2. Neither I nor my opponents sideboarded.
Deck - Qi’Ra Blue
There are a few changes from the Qi’Ra Blue deck from a prior week, with some changes being inspired by Pierre’s Bossk Blue deck, but basically the standard blue control shell deck.
Matchups
Vs Dooku Blue 1-0
They went super wide with Poggle the Lesser. I misused Equalize too early. I played Superlaser Blast after they flipped Dooku with four droid tokens and The Invisible Hand. I later developed a Supreme Leader Snoke that they couldn't really deal with.
Vs Sabine ECL 1-0
I had played double 6/6 Lieutenant Childsen back-to-back, with the first Lieutenant Childsen being traded away by their Fighters for Freedom and an ECL'd Fleet Lieutenant. They couldn't deal with my second 6/6 Lieutenant Childsen and later a Supreme Leader Snoke.
Vs Palp Yellow 0-1
They had double Resupply and later played Relentless that I had no answer to. I didn't draw into any Vigilances, as that would be my main win condition in this matchup.
Vs Sabine ECL 0-1
Their Darksaber'd Sabine leader killed my 6/6 Lieutenant Childsen. I took too much damage and couldn't come back. The end board state was them having R2-D2 and Poe Dameron and I had an Avenger.
Vs Pre Vizsla ECL 1-0
They put a lot of pressure. I had to deploy Qi'Ra before their leader flip. I had about 23 base damage before I started stabilizing via The Client heals. Their leader effect did come into play a few times.
Conclusion
Tough matchup against Set1 Palpatine, but I’m not expecting too much of that leader in the meta. I like double blue, because I feel that it should be able to beat Bossk Blue. The aggro matchup seems a bit more iffy compared to Bossk Blue though. Pros and cons.
