Matchups
Vs Jango Tarkintown 1-0
Newish player; they had a pretty standard Jango Tarkintown deck, but I think I drew better and I was able to base race faster.
Vs Sabine ECL 0-1
It was just a base race. I went air via Green Squadron A-Wing + Wing Leader, my opponent had Battlefield Marine and Jesse. I played too hastily and made a misplay (which I realized like right after it had happened) where I spent an extra action hitting with a Droid token when I should've Tarkintown’d their Battlefield Marine and still be able to claim initiative to deny them having two rebels for Rebel Assault, which is what I ended up losing to. Don’t really remember, but I think I would’ve also died to a Fleet Lieutenant pump, but the Tarkintown play would still be the correct play as I only needed one additional action to win regardless of the Droid token attack.
We played two more games, in a Bo3 style (though no sideboarding) in terms of deciding initiative, in which I won both. In both games, I played Qi’Ra on the resource 4 turn to deny their Darksaber play.
Vs Yoda Yellow 1-0
They were completing their CBG's achievements*, so their deck wasn't too optimal. So, I didn’t think too hard and played pretty loosey-goosey to let them complete their achievements.
*CBG has a seasonal point system, twice for this (and, tentatively, future) set, where players get points for attendance/wins/achievements for additional goodies at the end. The list of possible achievement tasks includes defeating General Grievous with Hello There and playing Twice the Pride on Anakin Skywalker.
Vs Qi'Ra ECL 1-0
Opponent didn't utilize ECL or Qi'Ra leader's ability at all. I think they did some misplays where they should've used their leader's ability sooner. One instance was when they attacked with their Pyke Sentinel first, not expecting my Fleet Lieutenant to pump my R2-D2 to kill their Pyke Sentinel.
From the value trades, I was able to flood the board. I was mindful of Qi'Ra deploy + Overwhelming Barrage play, but I had an answer ready to kill Qi'Ra by the time she can be deployed. I wasn't too scared of a Superlaser Blast as I had already inflicted a lot of base damage and still have some units in hand to refill the board a bit.
Vs Rex Droid Manufactory 1-0
My opponent started with a Frontline Shuttle. I missed my Turn 1 play, though I did have a Sneak Attack, so there was some consideration to Sneak Attack out a Millennium Falcon just to trade, but I felt that play was too card resource expensive and that the Frontline Shuttle didn't pose that big of a threat.
Next turn, I played my Millennium Falcon to kill their Frontline Shuttle. I ended up continually keeping the Millennium Falcon out and ended up trading it away to their Bright Hope.
Rex’s trooper +0/+1 buff was a bit annoying in that I couldn’t one-shot the Droid tokens with Quinlan.
It came down to a base race with a one action difference.
Conclusion
Similar to last week’s weekly recap with Anakin Blue, Quinlan feels pretty decent, I think there’s potential. Planning to continue try out different decks.
