Thanks as always for your service judging, sounds like a smooth, if sweaty, event. Sad I couldn't make it.

-Am I correct in reading since only one player was late, the time change did not actually affect anyone's ability to participate? Regardless of if it did or not, they still should have figured something better out, but it sounds like an OK outcome (accidentally) if it didn't affect anyone

-Re "Games I was watching" point 3- I am curious if you felt any sort of concern about affecting the tournament integrity with this. I don't know myself how I feel, but when I read it I sensed it's probably not a thing I would have volunteered to a participant without a direct rules question being asked. Definitely not any sort of accusation, it's a gray area and as a fellow judge, just interested in delving more into the thought process there.

Thanks for reading!

- Yeah, only one person was late. I don't think the time change did actually affect anyone's ability to participate. Throughout the week of the event, it went from 128 registered players to ~111 registered players on the morning of the event (and then 8 no shows, so 102 actual players total). So, I think the new start time did get spread around via word of mouth pretty well.

- To clarify, I talked to them after the round. They seemed kind of a newish player (or not well versed in the game), that's why I volunteered the info of optional effects vs mandatory effects. Later in the event, they did come up to me to thank me about it and we chatted a bit.

- - But even going beyond that, if I was curious about something after the given round, I would ask a player about it (e.g. how was the matchup, or why did you do X instead of Y?) or if a player asked for my opinion about a given matchup, I would tell them, etc. I'm basically open to talk anything about SWU. Thanks for bringing it up, I never considered this aspect, but I don't think it's wrong?

Appreciate the insight! It's certainly possible that you are correct and that I'm thinking of things overly strictly in terms of what players should know at the PQ level vs what they do know. I did understand it was after the round and that you weren't actually interfering in an ongoing game- no worries there :)
